Ilana (born 1969, in Port Elizabeth) is a contemporary modern artist based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Her work has a noticeable modern abstract flair.  It is bespoke and suited to the more discerning client. Ilana has been a creator all her life. She loves experimenting with different media, moulding and shaping, using whatever she has at her disposal.

It all began at the age of ten, with pottery and the manufacture of fashion accessories, which led to kiddie arts and crafts classes, designing and making beautiful clothes, macramé, bauer mallerei, designing and manufacturing precious metal jewellery, découpage, paint techniques, French polish, gilding, furniture restoration and refinishing, followed by paint techniquing of pillars, kitchens, furniture and walls.

Then she began painting on canvas. With no formal training, she applied that which she knew, creating the unusual acrylic, oil and mixed-media art pieces she creates today. Some pieces are best described as sculpture on canvas.
